Why Prison Ministry? We all live with some type Imprisonment, whatever controls us Imprisons us! Prisons are the fastest growing mission field in the world. Our nation is putting up to 1100 new faces in prison every week. 1 in 6 of our youth today will be in prison. Over 10 Million young people have had a mother or father -or both- behind prison bars in some point in their lives, and they are 7 times more likely to follow their footsteps. 78% of women behind bars are mothers and 64% of men behind bars are fathers. “A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling. God sets the lonely in families, he leads forth the prisoners with singing; but the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land.” Psalm 68:5-7 For nearly 10 years, M.I.A. Ministries has been going into correctional facilities on a part-time basis, sharing the good news of Jesus Christ with those behind bars, and offering the hope of true transformation. Through the use of Bible-based programming, and with the help of other committed volunteers, lives are being changed, hope is being restored, and darkness is being replaced with the promise of a future. Now M.I.A. Ministries has moved into Full-Time Ministry!
M.I.A. Ministries seeks to restore those affected by crime and incarceration by introducing prisoners, victims, and their families to a new hope available through Jesus Christ. By nurturing a growing Christian community inside America’s prisons, as well as equipping churches and communities to welcome those men and women home once they finish their sentences, restoration and healing can begin. To accomplish this, we need your help! M.I.A. Ministries is a donation-funded ministry that is solely dependent upon your financial and monetary gifts of support, and through your prayers of encouragement. “I, the LORD, have called you in righteousness; I will take hold of your hand. I will keep you and will make you to be a covenant for the people and a light for the Gentiles, to open eyes that are blind, to free captives from prison and to release from the dungeon those who sit in darkness.” Isaiah 42:6-7 There are fewer places darker than a prison cell. There, separated from all that they ever knew or loved, men and women struggle with feelings of despair and hopelessness. As they search for some sense of meaning and purpose for their lives, they wonder if anyone outside the walls of the prison knows or cares about their struggles. But even in the darkest places, there is Light.
